PCC Community Safety Objectives for Bedfordshire

PCC Community Safety Objectives for Bedfordshire

John Tizard was elected as Police and Crime Commissioner for Bedfordshire in May 2024. The PCC is the only elected politician who represents the whole county, with a duty to ensure that there is an effective and efficient police service and wider criminal justice system.

John's Police & Crime Plan has two stages, October 2024 to March 2025, and April 2025 to May 2028. It is "based-upon seven missions which are underpinned by objectives" which all stakeholders can support and these are expected to evolve over the period of the plan.

Suppliers to the county's public bodies can also support the plan through their social value within public contracts - within the DICM (Bedfordshire) social value marketplace initially through police contracting, and then wider through local authority and criminal justice contracting from 2026.

According to the Office of the PCC website "The Plan must maximise impact and public benefit, have measurable outcomes, and be affordable within tight financial constraints".

Recorded in May 2024 when he was elected, this video explores John's views on community policing and increased visibility, addressing issues such as anti-social behaviour, drug dealing, and lack of communication and responsiveness from the police.

John's says he aims to reduce crime against women and children, tackle modern-day slavery and cybercrime, and improve overall police performance through collaboration and partnership working with experts, stakeholders, and other agencies
