Worcestershire's business suppliers can now support the council's net carbon zero pledge, using their contract social value as a contribution towards the logistical process of planting 150,000 trees.

Worcestershire County Council's commercial team is using market forces within the DICM (West Mercia) social value marketplace, to help suppliers and partners better align with their Commercial Social Value Charter; positioning FOUR specific community impact projects for suppliers to consider supporting as part of their social value propositions within bids for council contracts.

One of the FOUR projects links to the council's pledge, in partnership with the Woodland Trust. This pledge sets-out a very clear planting target and now enables suppliers to bid for contracts by showing social value as: either volunteer time, provision of trees, equipment or tools or a mix of all of this.

2025/2026 tree planting will be in Bournheath near Bromsgrove

Volunteer Time

Corporate volunteer days have limited opportunities:

The Woodland Trust has weekly volunteer groups who do a lot of the labour on projects.

However come November 2025 onwards there could be some opportunity for tree planting days as part of the Council’s 150,000 tree project.

Donations can also be made for the peripherals of tree planting such as tools, equipment, eco wrap and canes.

Council suppliers and those bidding for future contracts, can utilise the DICM (West Mercia) to declare their social value support for this pledge.

To make donations of time. money or equipment contact and discuss the specifics of social value support, businesses can quote Woodland Trust and the Worcestershire County Council Pledge
