Worcestershire County Council's commercial team is using market forces within the DICM (West Mercia) social value marketplace, to help suppliers and partners better align with their Commercial Social Value Charter; positioning FOUR specific community impact projects for suppliers to consider supporting as part of their social value propositions within bids for council contracts.
One of the FOUR projects links to the council's commitment to community resilience; by enabling community efforts which deliver equity, diversity and inclusion.
Meet The Emily Jordan Foundation (EJF)
Set up by Emily's family and friends after she died in April 2008, EJF embodies Emily's passion for and understand of the difficulties that people with disabilities face - both socially and when trying to gain employment. As she grew up with a brother with moderate learning disabilities, Emily helped her father Chris to set up LAFS, a group that still meets for social interaction, in Kidderminster and then Spokes CIC, whilst at University.
When Emily died in April 2008 Chris and Sarah decided to set up the charity EJF as a lasting legacy to her hard work.
The primary aim of EJF is to help people with learning disabilities to be able to find employment and to remain in it, in the future.
EJF offers a broad array of practical support to so many who have been told, all of their lives, that they can't achieve anything.
Dedicated projects cover learning and skills development across horticulture, wood works, recycling and renewables, ceramics, and even in-house enterprises.

Council suppliers and those bidding for future contracts, can utilise the DICM (West Mercia) to declare their social value support for EJF.
Contract/Sub-contract
Any council suppliers providing facilities or grounds maintenance contracts within the Worcestershire area could engage commercially with EJF Enterprises, to deploy the team who do tasks such as mowing, strimming, leaf blowing and litter picking
