Neurodiversity support goes live through supplier social value across West Mercia

Neurodiversity support goes live through supplier social value across West Mercia

During 2026, a series of innovative, evidence-based initiatives enable business suppliers to deliver a very specific social value within West Mercia emergency services, local authority and NHS contracting.

THREE projects are grounded in compassion, inclusion, and a commitment to improving outcomes for some of the most
vulnerable people who face real challenges due to their neurodivergence - specifically within highly stressful emergency services situations.

In partnership with Seritag, this project introduces NFC-enabled wristbands for neurodivergent individuals.

When scanned, the wristband provides essential information such as emergency contacts, communication needs, and calming strategies.

SAMBOARDS are discreet, lanyard-worn sensory tools for neurodivergent members of the public.

The tools support individual emotional regulation, focus, and sensory needs and have been fully adopted by Devon & Cornwall Police.

Project Treasure is improving road safety for neurodivergent children & young people.

Sensory-friendly seatbelt covers, designed for individuals with sensory sensitivities, identify the wearer as neurodivergent in the event of an emergency

The region's business suppliers are able to deploy their contract social value to help neurodivergent individuals within West Mercia's communities and workforces. These projects directly support the objectives outlined in West Mercia Police’s Autism Action Plan and Disability Action Plan, as well as the broader Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Strategy.

About the West Mercia Autism and Neurodiversity Network

The Network is a collaboration of serving police officers and police staff within West Mercia Police, also acting as a local branch of the National Police Autism Association (NPAA); aligned with the West Mercia Ability Network, which supports disabled people working for West Mercia Police.

Any business member of our ecosystem who is a supplier/potential supplier who wants to discuss this in more depth, can contact WMANN through the details shown within the buttons above.
