The PALS Programme

The PALS Programme

The Professional Action Learning Sets (PALS) Programme is a strategic programme designed to tackle barriers to career progression for ethnically diverse police officers and staff within West Mercia Police, and eventually forces across the region.

PALS is an important strand in how police engage with communities and directly supports the objectives set-out within the Safer West Mercia Communities Plan; also aligning with the region's Community Safety Partnerships' priorities.

Below, Peter explains more about PALS and how, as part of a drive for cohesion and equity, the force is actively supporting staff to professionally (and personally) develop so as to enhance their careers and interactions within diverse communities.

Suppliers to the West Mercia area can provide social value support for PALS, within the DICM contracting process linking police, fire and rescue, NHS, councils and criminal justice service contracting.

West Mercia's business suppliers and contract social value can support PALS...

Through the creation of the DICM (West Mercia) social value marketplace the region's business suppliers to emergency services, councils, NHS and criminal justice services are able to support PALS to roll-out the activity through policing teams in each county.
